Sacramento, CA – Today, Wendy Carrillo’s campaign announced that the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California has endorsed her candidacy for the 51st Assembly District.
“I am truly honored to receive the endorsement of SEIU California,” said Carrillo. “As a formerly undocumented immigrant who came to the US as a young child, I know what it means to achieve the American Dream. From standing up for immigrants to fighting for access to quality healthcare, I am looking forward to continuing to work with SEIU California to protect our working families and ensure they have the opportunity to achieve their American Dream.”
SEIU California represents 700,000 members throughout the state and is comprised of social workers, nurses, classroom aides, security officers, college professors, home care workers, janitors, and other working Californians.
David Huerta, President of SEIU-USWW said: “As an immigrant and a fighter for working families, Wendy Carrillo has walked in the shoes of our SEIU members and their families. As part of our SEIU team that fought for dignity for home care workers and the people they serve, Wendy knows exactly what’s at stake for working families today. Protecting our health care and standing up to Trump’s threats against immigrants and workers will take someone with Wendy’s courage and determination.”
