Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo’s campaign for re-election to the new 52nd Assembly District announced the endorsement of the California Labor Federation today.
“We are proud to endorse Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo, a true champion for working families in her re-election,” said Art Pulaski, Executive Secretary Treasurer of the California Labor Federation.“Assemblywoman Carrillo has been at the frontlines to protect workers against COVID-19, ensuring the extension of COVID paid sick leave, addressing misclassification of workers, increasing apprenticeship programs, ensuring climate change goals include a sustainable green workforce that ultimately make California a leader in the environment and good jobs for working families. We are proud to stand with her and endorse Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo.”
The California Labor Federation is made up of more than 1,200 unions, representing 2.1 million union members in manufacturing, retail, construction, hospitality, public sector, health care, entertainment and other industries. They are dedicated to promoting and defending the interests of working people and their families for the betterment of California’s communities.
“It is truly an honor to receive the support of the California Labor Federation,” said Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo. “California is leading the way in innovation and as the 5th largest economy in the world, we must always remember that it is workers that make this a reality. I am proud to be in the fight for working families in all sectors, and I know that together we will continue to work in creating an economy that lifts all boats, in which all people have a right to achieve the California dream, build a strong foundation for their families and live in dignity.”
Carrillo was first elected in 2017 and has been a champion for new laws and budget proposals to strengthen worker protections, increase apprenticeship and workforce development programs, and protect seniors and people living with disabilities. The support of the California Labor Federation comes fresh on the heels of Attorney General Rob Bonta throwing his support behind Carrillo, as well as the United Farm Workers, the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, the Service Employees International Union of California, the California Nurses Association, and others.
