Wendy Carrillo’s campaign announced today that Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) has endorsed her candidacy for the 51st Assembly District.
“Wendy Carrillo is my pick for Assembly,” said Assemblymember Santiago. “Wendy has been a fighter in the environmental justice movement, and with East LA being ground zero for the Exide plant lead contamination, and clean up efforts being drastically slow, she will be a key partner with me in ensuring polluters like Exide are held accountable.”
Assemblymember Santiago’s endorsement follows other major endorsements, with the California Democratic Party, Congressman Jimmy Gomez and Senate President pro Tem Kevin De León throwing their support behind Wendy Carrillo to be AD 51’s next Assemblymember.
“I am truly honored to receive the support of Assemblymember Santiago,” said Carrillo. “My campaign has been about equality, social justice and opportunity. If elected, I am looking forward to working with Assemblymember Santiago in ensuring our values are protected and that all Californians have a chance at achieving the American Dream.”
In Friday’s election update posted by the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters, Carrillo widened her lead over the second place finisher. The General Election for Assembly District 51 will be held on December 5.
