The Wendy Carrillo for Assembly campaign today announced the endorsement of Los Angeles City Councilman José Huizar.
“I strongly support Wendy Carrillo for Assembly,” said Councilman Huizar. “Wendy grew up in our community, attended local public schools and is a champion for the hard-working people of our community. When Wendy worked in my City Council office, she was a key and effective advocate for education, affordable housing, and good jobs. She is the best candidate to represent us in the Assembly.”
Councilman Huizar joins other major endorsers of Wendy Carrillo’s campaign including the California Democratic Party, Emily’s List and the National Women’s Political Committee.
“It’s an honor to receive the endorsement of Councilmember José Huizar,” said Wendy Carrillo. “I began my career in politics working in Councilman Huizar’s office. Over the years, he’s taught me the importance of building coalitions and finding solutions to create real change,” said Carrillo.
Carrillo emerged in first place in the October 3 Special Primary Election, and her campaign has gained a surge of momentum in recent weeks with endorsements by Congressman Jimmy Gomez, Senate President pro Tem Kevin De León and SEIU California. The General Election for Assembly District 51 will be held on December 5.
